Up And Running!

This is a bit how I feel right now. LOL.

I’ve spent the last 10 days getting to this point, this first post. I’m excited to see it all coming together, but – just like this scene in the movie – it feels a bit anti-climactic. Nothing happening yet.

That’s all fine, though, for me, its “all part of the plan.”

Here’s the deal:

I’m a retiring bartender, by that I mean currently make the majority of my income bartending, but I decided 10 months ago I wanted out. Actually, I decided long before that, but didn’t have any real plan until 10 months ago. I decided to become a life coach or personal coach or mentor or whatever, and started training for that. By this past December I had my first client, which lead to two more by March. So far so good, right?

My goal, all along, has been to quit bartending before New Year’s Eve 2021. I’ve worked ever New Year’s Eve for the last 10 years and this one I’m spending with my friends.

As a coach I’ve got big plans. I’m developing a signature program that I will turn into an online class and a paid program for those wanting to go that route. But this takes time, a lot of time to do well, and I have to learn a lot of things to make it happen. In the mean time, I’m not replacing my income from the bar and my deadline is growing closer. I needed to figure out a way to hit my deadline.

I soon figured out the gap in my knowledge and skill is marketing. My clients love me, the changes in their lives have been amazing and they recommend me to lots of people, but as a new coach, with a very short track record, its still difficult to build the trust that comes from an established reputation. Plus, when my signature program is ready, I’ll need to market that, too. So…

Learn marketing, obviously, right?

I’ve spent the majority of my free time most days for months working on my business. Taking classes, trying to market online (with no success), and building my program. I need to start making money! I decided it was time for this coach to walk the walk, and I got my own coach. I signed up for a training program for affiliate marketing, I had to be vetted before being accepted (a practice I also use in my coaching), and now I’m learning all about what it takes to effectively market products online.

Here’s the good news – This program is learn by doing, which means learn be earning. I’ll be learning to market other people’s products, but at the same time learning all the ins and outs of how to do it so I can apply it to mine when they’re ready. Plus, I’ll be generating an income that will continue along side my coaching, and I expect will replace my bartending income in a few months, meeting my goal deadline.

Which brings me to today. I’ve been spending 4-6 hours a day working through all the back end stuff necessary to set up sales funnels, including this blog, and now I’ve got all the technical pieces in place and its time to begin marketing. What does that even mean? I honestly don’t know, yet.

As I said, I’ve been trying online, social media marketing for months. I’ve been blogging on my coaching page. I’ve been pod casting on a pod cast I started months before I decided to pursue coaching, but so far, none of my clients have come from those and in months I’ve only gotten a handful of clicks on my website, not a single inquiry. So, whatever I’m doing is wrong, and today I begin learning how to do it right.

This blog is my journal of my journey, hopefully it will be entertaining and informative for anyone following in my footsteps. Please, leave your comments, your advice, your questions, we learn best by engaging! And you can get a bit of what I’ve already learned, for free, by signing up to follow this blog in the sidebar.

So – Here we go!
